How do you insert footnotes on Microsoft Word 2003?

I am doing a project that requires me using footnotes so help pls.How do you insert footnotes on Microsoft Word 2003?
In Word, you can go to 'Insert,' then 'reference', then select 'Footnote.' Or if you need the Header and Footer tool where you can type in a custom text line and have it appear on each page, go to 'View', then 'Header and Footer.' You will see the Header editing area at the top of your page, and 'footer' area at the bottom. How do you insert footnotes on Microsoft Word 2003?
Do this:

1. Position the cursor where you want the footnote or endnote reference to go.

2. Click on the Insert-%26gt;Reference-%26gt;Footnote menu item.

3. Click Insert.

4. Type the footnote.

The footnotes are best viewed in Print Layout view, at least until you get used to how they work.

Hope that helps.
