What's the difference between footnotes and bibliography?

In essay writing I need foot notes and bibliography. What's the difference and are they both included in the word count? What's the difference between footnotes and bibliography?
They are both a part of referencing. Footnotes are what you need when you cite a quote or some information that you've got from somewhere else. You have to cite the source or it is plagiarising (copying someone else's work and passing it off as yours.)

A footnote can be done by clicking after the quote etc that you want to cite and if you're using Microsoft Word go to Insert and then footnote then a line will come at the bottom of the page where you say where you say the source. A bibliogrpahy is a summary of all your references in an alphabetical list (surnames first). Some people use the Harvard system while others use the Short Title System. I use the Short Title System where if you cite something within the essay and use a footnote you put the order like this:

If it's a book: A. Crisell, An Introductory History of British Broadcasting, 2nd ed, London/New York, Routledge, 2001, p.141

Internet source:Unknown author, History: The Glory Years, Radio Caroline.co.uk, date unknown, http://www.radiocaroline.co.uk/history3.鈥?/a> date accessed: 20/04/08

For the bibliography use the same structure in the same order except for with books take away the page number and have the author's name surname first then initials following.

This is only for the Short Title System though!! Hope I helped! What's the difference between footnotes and bibliography?
footnotes are things you write in brackets- small things

it is usually use so the teacher could see where you copied from a source

eg. you won't need to write the whole bibliography just the web or title or etc

bibliography should be written on another page

go to www.infoplease.com/homework/t8biblio.htm鈥?br>

you write

The Encyclopedia Britannica, 1997. Volume 7, ';Gorillas,'; pp. 50-51.

in the bibliography

and

The Encyclopedia Britannica

as foot note
Foot notes are sentence in the bottom or side margins that explain things further you could put a * next to a word and then put a footnote in the side margin explaining

a Bibliography is a list of your sources at the end of your paper

you do not include them in your word count
Footnotes go at the end of every page, and a bibliography or works cited page goes at the very end, all compiled. Neither should be counted in word count.
