In word if I reference something one source twice on the same page like for example
Dave smith was here1. Then he left1
How do i do this so it just references one footnote like I said above instead of word changing the second reference automatically to ';then he left2'; and creating another footnote
ThanksIn word how do i create a footnote and then reference the same footnote twice without the numbers changing?
There's a way to do this but, in Word XP (2002) at least, it's only half-baked. The number gets replicated perfectly, but it won't update, either automatically or manually, if the footnote number changes because of additions or deletions of prior footnotes. That makes it about as useful as entering the number as text and formatting it to look like a footnote reference.
However, in case MS fixed this in Word 2003 and that's what you're using, here's how:
1. Click where you want the pseudo-footnote to go.
2. Click the Insert-%26gt;Reference-%26gt;Cross Reference menu item.
3. Select Footnote as Reference Type.
4. In the Insert Reference to list box, select Footnote Number (Formatted).
5. Click Insert.
Good luck.In word how do i create a footnote and then reference the same footnote twice without the numbers changing?
If you don't have Word 2007, why not delete the second reference and just use a superscripted number corresponding to the original reference number instead?
Superscripting is a function of Toolbar -%26gt; Format -%26gt; Font.
Should do the trick.
This feature is available in Word 2007 in Insert menu there is an option in header %26amp; footer which has a facility that you can give single or multiple text with number, in footer.
