Mercury Morris and the 72 Dolphins ready to be reduced to a footnote?

These guys have whined about not getting respect for 35 years... because people rightly point out that the 84/89 Niners and 85 Bears were better teams. ( 72 Dolphins played no regular season games against any playoff teams, and only against 3 teams with a .500 or better record.... not that hard)

If the Patriots win Sunday..... are the 72 Fins less than an afterthought?Mercury Morris and the 72 Dolphins ready to be reduced to a footnote?
I am a Dolphins fan and it still annoys me that some members of that team can't admit that anyone could equal or surpass their accomplishment. It's not like they weren't an awesome team, but some of them, and Morris especially, are saying that they'd still be 1 and the Pats ';1A'; because the Dolphins did it first. That's idiotic. It's like saying that the second guy who got to the top of Mount Everest wasn't quite as high up as the first one. This of course is just in addition to the fact that most experts think the Patriots and several other great teams (like the ones u mentioned, plus perhaps '78 Steelers, '93 Cowboys, etc.) are/were better than the 72 'fins and also that the Pats had to win more games to do it. Kudos to the Dolphins' achievement but just say congratulations and get on with your life.Mercury Morris and the 72 Dolphins ready to be reduced to a footnote?
The Dolphins will not be forgotten they had switched QBs and they did when in the playoffs against better teams did they not?
I hope he shuts up, once all is said and done.
Star for you.

Yes again I totally agree with you. They played 3 team with .500 or better record. That is nothing compared to 84 Niners or DA 85 Bears(Bears fan). I think the team Da bears faced were like two playoff team and at least 7 team over .500. So I agree that the 84 Niners and Da bears should be remebered with some of the best team in NFL history.
He'll still gripe.

Great team but that was the '70's. I like Rob H.'s Mt. Everest analogy.
1 Star.

And I agree with you 100%
Yep. Here's a star for all your troubles.
you speak the truth o' might one.i only liked there running back Larry Csonka, and linebacker Nick Bounicotti, they don't wine, but dope head Mercury Morris does.they beat the teams they played 14-10....7-3 low scoring games,Washington should beat them in the superbowl
he's a whinny old ';addict'; trying 2 feed his ';habit';
They are an afterthought in everyone's mind but their own. Morris is too delusional to agree, so he'll go on babbling about the neighborhood until they come to take him away, which can't come soon enough in my view.
Unfortunately, the NFL does not recognize the 1948 Cleveland Browns perfect season. If they had, it would not have been as big of a deal when the Dolphins did it, since they were not really the first team.

The 1948 Cleveland Browns, in fact the 1946-1955 Cleveland Browns were perhaps the Greatest Dynasty in pro football history. During those ten seasons, the Browns won 7 Championships.

In the modern era, I would agree with your assessment that the 85 Bears and the 84 and 89 49ers were better than the 1972 Dolphins. However, I am not sure they were better than the 1948 Browns. The Browns had an unbelievable offense, featuring HOF quarterback Otto Graham. Fellow HOF Dante Laveli and Mac Speedie (who was the best receiver in football for 7 seasons and should be in the HOF) made big plays on the outside. Dub Jones was perhaps the greatest receiving running back of his time. Marion Motley was the best blocking fullback of all-time and averaged 5.7 yards per carry for his career. Wow! Then you add in a defense that was tops in the league most seasons. They were unbelievable.

If only more people knew. Well, at least now you know.
ya, but the pats were found cheating earlier this season......isnt that suspicous...........hmmmmmmmmmm
