How do you footnote an internet source?

I know how to use foot notes, but where on the website could you find the author and other info?

Step by step pleaseHow do you footnote an internet source?
You can't always find this information on a website. If it's a newspaper article, you write the title of the article, its author then add ';at'; and the link. E.g. Darren Barefoot, ';The Tyranny of Twitter Stats'; at http://www.darrenbarefoot.com/archives/2009/03/the-tyranny-of-twitter-stats.html. If the author is not available, at least write the title of the section. E.g. ';John Wiley and Sons. Inc. - Competitors'; at http://finance.yahoo.com/q/co?s=JW-A

Also from what I know you need to add the date you accessed the site.

Hope this is useful.
