How do you use the footnote numbers?

How do you use the footnote numbers without the footnote line that comes with it at the bottom. I can't seem to use one without the other.

I need to use the footnote format for numbers but put the notes on a separate sheet. How do you use the footnote numbers?
What you are doing is called an endnote, not a foot note. If you are using Word, when you insert the footnote reference choose endnote instead of footnote and have it locate at the end of the document. If you have some other type of wordprocessor, you can do it the old fashioned way. Just add the numbers in your word processing program manually then keep track of which one goes to what reference and add it at the end. Put a number in the text like this [1] or change the font by highlighting the number and using format/font to make it ';superscript.'; (No, that's not script for superman!).
